Benefits

TrakCare and other HIS systems

TrakCare Lab is part of a TrakCare suite and as such can process orders directly from a clinician using the TrakCare product. TrakCare Lab can also integrate with other HIS products accepting demographics orders and changes from the third party system using various messaging structures such as HL7.

Patient Management

TrakCare Lab allows each Laboratory to define the system of patient and test entry that best suits their situation. TrakCare Lab will provide fast and efficient patient management.

Security & Auditing

Access to functions can be set by a supervisor and can be defined down to menu level.  Security access to patient data is multi-leveled and can be set at a test, patient, location or department level. A confidential test can either be set to block entry to the result or be completely hidden from users who do not have the appropriate security privileges. TrakCare Lab also features an Audit Trail of all changes, reports and Inquires made within the system, as well as on the table data.

QA Rules

TrakCare Lab has a very powerful rules based system known as ACTIONS which allows the user to define a set of QA actions such as the reflex addition of a Test, the setting of a warning message, with a STOP or YES/NO option or setting the next level of Authorization.  Actions use demographic and test information on both current and previous episodes for a patient. This ensures that rules of best practice are followed throughout the Laboratory.

Quality Control

Quality Control (QC) results are available in real-time from the instrument module or can be added to a worksheet. QC results can also be filed directly from the Instrument. The Quality Control results are validated using Westgard rules which can be set at an Instrument or Instrument/Test level.  Rule failures are color-coded Levy Jennings and Youden plots are available and can be printed. Running Means can also be calculated and split sample QA samples can be defined.

Clinical Reports

TrakCare Lab offers many options for clinical reports. The layout for each test can be defined down to an individual clinician or ward if required.  There are a large number of cumulative report types to initiate. Reports can be delivered via direct printing to ward, electronic delivery such as HL7 messaging, email or faxing.

Statistical Reports

TrakCare Lab comes with a host of pre-defined statistical reports such as turn-around-times and over due lists. There are also many department specific reports such as Epidemiology reports for Microbiology and Transfused Blood reports for Blood Transfusions.

TrakCare Lab is also fully ODBC compliant and as such can be queried with tools such as Crystal Reports or Access.
